Your 3 Days (& 4 Nights) at TIPDI
Generally speaking, your dancing day at TIPDI will consist of two 90-minute classes in your "primary" dance, plus three more 90-minute classes that rotate you among all the other dance forms! (See Schedule details below.) Every night, you'll have the chance to practice what you've learned by going social dancing in NYC. You will become amazing in a single 3-day weekend!
3 Days & 4 Nights — or a Weekend (2 Days, 3 Nights)
Our full 3 Days, 4 Nights experience begins Thursday night with a Meet-and-Greet from 7–9 pm*, followed by social dancing in New York City. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you will plunge into TIPDI's amazing classes 10 am to 7 pm, with a lunch break, of course. That's 22.5 hours of classes with the world's top instructors! You will cross-train in every dance style, getting fresh new ideas and great new skills. You will become amazing!
* Thursday 7-9 pm: In a side room, we'll also have the placement auditions for those wishing to be in the super-advanced "Expert/Professional" level for any particular dance. See Levels & Placement for details.
At TIPDI, we highly recommend that you come for the full 3 Days, 4 Nights experience! However, we recognize that some folks can't get away until the weekend, so there's an option for you, too.
The Weekend Experience (2 Days, 3 Nights) is for anyone whose work obliges them to miss one of our days. For most of our Weekenders, that means missing Friday and attending Saturday and Sunday. Attending Friday and Saturday only, and missing Sunday, is also fine. (We do not recommend attending on Friday and then returning on Sunday. Classes at TIPDI are cumulative, and missing Saturday will leave you feeling behind.) Your TIPDI experience will start in the evening with a brief check-in and meet-and-greet, followed by social dancing in NYC. Then you will have 2 full days (15 hours!) of TIPDI's amazing and dynamic classes, 10 am to 7 pm (with a lunch break, of course), followed by more social dancing each night!

A Sample Daily Schedule
TIPDI is meant to function like a present-day dance conservatory, and there is a pre-planned curriculum with which all of the instructors are familiar. You will receive an individual, personalized schedule upon arrival. You will be working on related skills and movement patterns, across multiple dance styles, all day long. Each class will build on earlier classes, to the extent possible. You will learn all 6 dance forms! Your personalized daily schedule might look something like these random examples:

All classes are 83 minutes long, with 7 minutes between classes. If you need a break, take one! We recommend staying in the studio and watching, because later classes build on the earlier ones.
* Concept Lab. In Concept Lab, your instructors in your primary partner dance form will present you with a movement concept or "problem". Using the concept as a springboard - take what you learned during the day, and practice it until you feel comfortable, then get feedback from the instructors, then practice some more, get more feedback, etc. This is a great chance to try new things, stumble all over each other, and ask your instructors specific questions. It's a very focused guided practice, designed to help you become more creative, responsive, and spontaneous on the dance floor.
